VarioComp is a light-weight underfloor system that can be used in both new and existing houses. The pipes used are installed in a reinforced gypsum board panel, then filled with a screed to fill the panel voids and provide a finished level for leveling compounds or floor coverings to be applied.
The Kiwi Inslab underfloor system is most commonly used in a new home or during extensive renovations. Underfloor pipe is tied to the reinforcing mesh in the construction slab and allows for a quick installation.
EzyMix European style screed underfloor system can be used in new or existing homes. Pipes are clipped to a high-density insulation base which sits on top of the construction slab, then a self-leveling EzyMix solution is then laid on the polystyrene covering the pipes.
The Spreader Plate underfloor system can be used in new or existing homes. The aluminum spreader plates are fitted between the joists allowing for the pipe to be pressed into the spreader plate.
Underfloor heating is particularly well suited to buildings with high ceilings. The radiant effect of heat from the floor is effective up to a height of about two metres, so the problem of heat gathering at the top of the room is less than with other systems.
Because the heat source is at the feet, the perceived comfort level is greater. As a result, actual room temperatures can possibly be one or two degrees below those required with other systems – resulting in energy cost savings. However, if the system is used for only short periods of time and at infrequent intervals, radiator systems may return a lower running cost.

In a warm-water central heating system, pipework runs from the boiler to the underfloor throughout the house. In a wood-framed home, pipes run through the framing timber like the electrical and plumbing services to the underfloor pipes. In a house constructed of concrete, pipes can be laid in the concrete slab.
To ensure even temperature is achieved throughout the home, the underfloor should ideally be in every room. In multi-storey homes, underfloor should also be placed in upstairs rooms and on landings. Based on the UK standard, allowance is made for 25% of heat rising to the next level in a well-insulated home. We, therefore, factor a reduced output requirement in our calculations for upper levels.
