Controls

What control is right for me?

The best-suited controller for your home depends on you the customer and the type of warm water central heating system you are planning for. Central Heating New Zealand advocates simple controls for most people and smart controls for enthusiasts and technically minded people and can discuss this with you to get the best result for you.

Why do I need a control for my central heating?

The controls are where you operate your warm water central heating system from. The interface between you and your comfort in your home. Good controls will keep your home at your ideal temperature without wasting fuel or heat, and give you the flexibility to alter what the system does to suit your lifestyle.

Controls can start at the basic end – a simple analogue thermostat right up to Wi-Fi-enabled smart controls. The balance we are looking for is running cost versus comfort versus convenience.

If I turn up my thermostat, will the house heat up quicker?

You don’t need to turn your thermostat up when it is colder outside; the house will heat up to the set temperature regardless. It may take a little longer on colder days, so you might want to set your heating to come on earlier in the winter.
